Jogalumba Temple – Telangana

๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ Jogulamba Devi Temple

The Mother of the Vedas | Alampur Siddha Peetha

๐ŸŒ The Gateway to the Sacred

The Jogulamba Temple is a powerful Shakti shrine situated in Alampur, Jogulamba Gadwal district. The Goddess is worshipped here in a seated posture with a lizard, scorpion, and a human skullโ€”symbolizing her power over time, poison, and the cycle of death. The name “Jogulamba” is derived from Yogula Amma, meaning the Mother of Yogis (Yoginis).

๐Ÿ“œ Legend and Architecture

Alampur is famous for its Navabrahma Temples, but Jogulamba is the heart of the complex. The original temple was grounded during historical invasions in the 14th century, but the deity was protected in the nearby Balabrahma temple. A magnificent new temple was reconstructed in 2005, following ancient Vastu principles.

The Unique Form: Unlike the calm forms of Lakshmi or Parvati, Jogulamba is a Ugra Rupa (fierce form). Devotees believe that a visit here removes the “poisons” of ego and bad health from one’s life.
