The Ambaji Mata Temple in Gujarat is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Millions of devotees visit this shrine to seek the blessings of Mother Amba. A unique aspect of the pilgrimage is the Mohanthal Prasad, a traditional sweet that has become synonymous with the temple’s identity.

🍯 The Legendary Mohanthal Prasad

Mohanthal is a traditional Gujarati sweet made primarily from gram flour (besan), pure ghee, and sugar. At Ambaji, it is more than just a sweet; it is Mahaprasad.

1. Preparation: It is prepared in large temple kitchens following strict standards of hygiene and tradition. The gram flour is roasted in pure ghee until it reaches a rich, aromatic brown color before being set into fudge-like pieces.
2. Religious Value: Every devotee who visits Ambaji considers their trip incomplete without offering Mohanthal to the Goddess and taking it back for family and friends.

💡 Did You Know? The temple management produces thousands of kilograms of Mohanthal daily. During the Bhadarvi Poonam fair, the production scales up significantly to meet the demand of millions of pilgrims.

✨ The Vishwa Yantra

There is no idol in this temple. Devotees worship the Shree Vishwa Yantra, a gold-plated copper plate inscribed with sacred syllables. The Yantra is dressed in ornate clothes and jewelry to resemble the Goddess’s form during darshan.
