The Legend of the West-Facing Lord
In the 13th century, the great philosopher **Sri Madhvacharya** established this temple. Legend says that a low-caste devotee named **Kanakadasa** was barred from entering the temple. He sat behind the temple, singing in devotion, until the idol of Lord Krishna miraculously turned around to face West and cracked the wall so Kanakadasa could see Him. To this day, the main door remains closed, and everyone views the Lord through that very window.
