🌍 The Divine Confluence

Perched on the Srisailam Mountain (Sriparvata) in the Nallamala Hills, this temple is where the neck of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. It is unique in the Hindu world for being both an 18-Maha Shakti Peetha and home to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The temple overlooks the Krishna River, providing a breathtaking spiritual atmosphere.

📜 The Legend of Arunasura

The demon Arunasura was protected by a celestial boon: he could not be killed by humans, gods, or any animals with two or four legs. Taking advantage of this, he terrorized the worlds. Goddess Shakti took the form of Bhramari (the Queen Bee), leading an army of six-legged bees to sting the demon to death, cleverly bypassing the boon.

✨ Festivals and Rituals

The temple is a major center for the Navratri celebrations. The most unique festival is the Kumbhothsavam, held in the month of Chaitra, where a large quantity of turmeric and vermillion is offered to the Goddess.

• Maha Shivratri: Since the temple is within the Mallikarjuna complex, Shivratri is celebrated with equal fervor for both the Lord and the Goddess.
• Chandi Homam: Performed daily, this is considered highly auspicious for clearing hurdles in life.
